We help neighbors who disagree understand each other.
We don't try to make them agree. We help them disagree better.
We don't try to make them agree. We help them disagree better.
The Braver Angels Houston Area Alliance brings together people across the political spectrum in nine counties of Greater Houston. We are committed to the Braver Angels Way.
We state our views freely and fully, without fear.
We treat people who disagree with us with honesty, dignity and respect.
We welcome opportunities to engage those with whom we disagree.
We believe all of us have blind spots and none of us are not worth talking to.
We seek to disagree accurately, avoiding exaggeration and stereotypes.
We look for common ground where it exists and, if possible, find ways to work together.
We believe that, in disagreements, both sides share and learn.
In Braver Angels, neither side is teaching the other or giving feedback on how to think or say things differently.
We are a local alliance of Braver Angels, a nonprofit founded in 2016. Every alliance is led by one conservative and one liberal co-chair, working as equals (Braver Angels alliance rules).
Volunteers. Our co-chairs are your neighbors, not paid staff.
If an event felt one-sided, or we treated someone unfairly, tell us. You can stay anonymous.
A cross-partisan movement bringing Americans of diverse political perspectives together.
A champion of courageous citizenship that strengthens civic trust and democratic participation.
A place for honest disagreement grounded in listening, curiosity, dignity, and mutual respect.
A community of action offering workshops, debates, conversations, and opportunities to find common ground.
Not a political party or advocacy organization promoting a partisan agenda.
Not an effort to change your political beliefs or persuade you to adopt someone else's views.
Not a movement toward the political center that expects everyone to compromise or agree.
Not a forum for partisan combat where winning arguments matters more than understanding one another.
Greater Houston is one of the most diverse places in the country. People here speak about 145 languages. We have big cities and small towns, oil workers and nurses, people whose families have lived here for generations and people who arrived last year.
Politics in our region doesn't follow one simple pattern. Harris County often votes for Democrats. Many nearby counties often vote for Republicans. But every county has people on both sides, and most people don't fit neatly into either camp.
When we sort ourselves into teams, we stop listening. We start to see people who disagree as threats. That makes it harder to solve problems we all share, like flooding, traffic, schools, and jobs. We believe Houstonians can do better, starting one conversation at a time.
Individual events don’t publish attendee lists, so the notable names are hosts and partners who publicly confirmed attendance.
